Real {Destination} Wedding ~ Merryl and Neil

Inspired by the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands, Merryl and Neil's wedding day in Orcas Island was filled with natural and organic elements of the gorgeous outdoor setting they were married in. From the playful images of Merryl and her bridesmaids to the sweet intimate moments the couple spent together at the cove, photographer Michele M. Waite was on hand to capture the entire day. One of our favorite details was Merryl's gorgeous gown by designer Wai-Ching. Made of reused materials, her strapless pleated silk chiffon gown featured an array of beautiful textures, including the layered skirt made of scraps of silk chiffon in ivory and antique Champagne hues. She accessorized with a pair of beaded chandelier earrings, a succulent in her hair and carried a gorgeous bouquet of local gathered blooms including pale pink roses, deep orange roses, sunkist mums and succulents. Her bridesmaids looked equally as fashionable in adorable cream dresses from Anthropologie that they all paired with vibrant red-orange pumps, while Neil and his groomsmen wore light khaki Summer suits with white button downs, succulent boutonnieres and orange ties to match the girls shoes.

The ceremony took place outside on a cliff overlooking the serene waterscape. Natural brown wood garden chairs were set out on the lawn, while shepherds hooks lined the aisleway adorned with deep burgundy dahlias and orange mums gathered from local farms on the island. Two little flower girls wearing pale pink tutus led the way down the aisle, followed by Merryl walking hand and hand with her mother and father down the aisle. Meeting her groom right next to the water the couple exchanged vows under an iron arch adorned with leafy green accents and blooms in the vibrant orange, deep burgundy and cardinal palette. After the ceremony Merryl and Neil escaped to a secluded cove for a private moment by the water to soak in the day only to reappear for the reception with Merryl riding on a pale yellow bike still in her wedding gown, setting the mood for the laid back and fun outdoor reception. Situated under an open air tent guest enjoyed a meal of local cuisine of grilled corn on the cob and fresh wild-caught salmon. Garden lights adorned the perimeter of the reception and illuminated the tent for the couple's first dance that they shared on the dance floor they had painted earlier with friends and family.
