Real Wedding ~ Gretchen and John

Gretchen and John's spring wedding at The Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC features about a million inspiring details and we couldn't wait to share these amazing images by photographer Caroline Ghetes. The wedding was designed in a palette of purples and violets, ranging from from the palest lavender to rich, bold berry. Gretchen carried a spectacular tightly formed bouquet of cream roses with a collar of dove grayish-lavender feathers made by Flowers from the Cellar, while the bridesmaids carried cascading pomanders of white button mums strung together from a wide satin ribbon in warm lavender. The bridesmaids wore cool lilac knee-length cocktail dresses in varied styles with a deep violet flower at the waist, while John and his groomsmen kept it simple in classic black tuxedos with white ties, vests and pocket squares.

The ceremony was held outside The Mint Museum on the Terrace beneath a clear tent where white garden chairs formed an aisle flanked by hanging moss cones bursting with a vibrant array of green, purple and violet flowers mingled with feathery ferns and foliage. A centerpiece made from bamboo poles and a dramatic canopy of cascading fuchsia orchids and amaranthus framed Gretchen and John's exchange of vows and provided a gorgeous backdrop for pre-ceremony photography. The reception was a combination of indoor and outdoor festivities with dining outside beneath a clear tent. Place cards edged in lavender were set in lines on a moss covered table with a vintage urn centerpiece of violet and green flowers, foliage, amaranthus, artichokes and a massive pillar candle in a glass hurricane. Guest tables were set with white garden chairs and covered in alternating eggplant pintuck linens and moss-green embroidered linens. Centerpieces were varied and unique, using similar flowers, moss, wrought iron pieces and candlelight as the common thread for a cohesive look. In lieu of a guest book, Gretchen and John asked guests to write warm wishes on lavender paper that were then placed on a wishing tree hung artfully from the ceiling. A candy bar display featured apothecary jars filled with sweet treats and Cake Expressions by Lisa created a sweet four-tier lavender wedding cake with white piped detailing, sugar butterflies and poufy sugar mums.
