Enjoy these lovely, free-spirited images by photographer Elizabeth Luna taken at a trash the dress session at Lake Arrowhead, California (yes it snows in SoCal). Elizabeth and a few others planned this amazing shoot that turned out to be so much more than they ever expected . . .
It's all about Apples
I thought I had seen everything when it comes to the use of apples as wedding favors until I saw these beautifully photographed images from Lucy Manalo of Manalo Empire Photography. I fell in love with these incredible apples. Ana Gonzalez from Berry Beautiful Creations crafts and designs these astonishing breath-taking pieces of art. Each apple is hand decorated! Aren’t they gorgeous?

Real Wedding ~ Rachel and Evan
Rachel and Evan's Richardson, TX wedding at Safari Texas Ranch was based on Rachel's love of sharks and Evan's love of mustaches. Yes, that's right... sharks and mustaches! We couldn't wait to share this wedding, which is definitely one of the most interesting, fun and creative ones we've seen, photographed by Caroline Fontenot. We love Rachel's stylish combination of knee-length dress, bolero jacket, retro-chic birdcage veil and brilliant violet pumps. The bridesmaids wore vibrant chartreuse dresses by J.Crew, which formed the base of their event palette of slate gray and chartreuse with accents of rich purple. The boys looked fantastic in gray suits, mustache patterned socks from Sock It To Me and handcrafted boutonnieres purchased on Etsy. Fun reception details included Mexican hot chocolate, a cigar bar and a Wahoo's fish taco truck. Friends and family danced the night away and created amazing images in the couple's prop-filled smile booth complete with mustaches, big red lips and a cardboard cut-out of the bride! To see more of Rachel and Evan's wedding, visit the Caroline Fontenot Photographer blog!

ALL A FLUTTER
Martha Stewart
This article ran in Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2002 and almost ten years later still rings true. On the subject of plumes, here's some timeless advise quoting a portion of the the article verbatim:
--For centuries, feathers have been a favorite trimming for hats. Huge Edwardian picture hats were covered in them, while chic little 1940s toques sported single ostrich plumes. A feathered hat is a dramatic choice. It will focus all eyes on your face. To avoid getting lost beneath one, choose makeup that's glamorous and glossy (no natural lips and pale eyes). Also, it is preferable to wear your hair pulled back in a chignon or tucked behind your ears; a fancy hairdo or full tousle of curls would compete with the trimming. A feathered hat usually works best with a straight, narrow clothing silhouette such as a tailored suit or long, columnar gown. But it is not an ideal choice for an outdoor wedding, where an unexpected breeze might send your plumes fluttering over your groom. A large feathered hat should be removed for pictures (it can cast shadows or hide your face). You may also want to set it aside during your reception. Above, clockwise from left: A mini cartwheel with ostrich feathers can be worn at an angle to flatter a round face. A pagoda hat with organza petals and ostrich feathers enhances a narrow face. A dramatic white-felt picture hat with feathers is stunning when paired with a portrait collar. A small pillbox covered with marabou lends a whimsical air to a tailored suit. --

Real Wedding ~ Neely and Jack
It was a bright, sunny day for Neely and Jack's Charlotte, NC wedding photographed by our talented friend Sharon Clark of Smitten Photography. In fact Neely wore aviator sunglasses during her outdoor portraits, which she totally rocked with her unique gown featuring a ruffled collar that she helped design. In one-of-a-kind style, Neely chose an inspired palette, with the bridesmaids in brilliant chartreuse dresses by J.Crew and florals created by Flowerchild florist. We love Neely's beautiful textured bouquet and the tall organic arrangements in silver vases. Their lively reception kicked off at the Charlotte City Club for a fantastic evening of dancing and celebration where the signature aviators re-appeared. For more images and details from Neely and Jack's Charlotte wedding visit the Smitten Photography blog.

E Session ~ Allison and Steven
We always love a creative, fun engagement session and Allison and Steven's images, sent to us by Caroline Fontenot definitely fit the bill! The couple spent the afternoon in Johnson City, TN, starting out on a country farm, then hanging around downtown. Do you love the patterned red chairs as much as we do? They're from Steven's grandmother! To see more of Allison and Steven's engagement session, visit the Caroline Fontenot blog!
