Lookbook Fall 2010 ~ Kenneth Pool

The Kenneth Pool collections have long been known for luxe fabrics, exquisite beading and embroidery and dramatic, glamorous design. Designed by Amsale Aberra, the Kenneth Pool Fall 2010 collection was one of the three bridal collections (Amsale also designs Amsale and Christos collections) shown by the designer during bridal market in mid October. In many ways, I often find the Kenneth Pool collection much more traditional and less daring with design than Amsale's namesake collection, which is always one of my favorites each season. However, Amsale Aberra is a smart designer and it's clear that she knows that each of the brands she designs has a distinct fan base, so to speak. Like any great artist, she knows how to give her fans what they're looking for and the Kenneth Pool brand is all about opulence. Perhaps a beaded, embroidered bodice on a full-skirted ballgown in super-shiny satin isn't groundbreaking, but no doubt there are millions of brides out there looking for just that kind of sparkle and shine.

A dropped-waist dominated the collection packed with lots and lots of beading, which showed up in both cleverly placed details and on fully beaded bodices and skirts. If you read my post on the Amsale or Christos collections, you could probably predict this, but my pick of the collection would be the first two gowns pictured below.
