Founded on the ideals of bringing unity to the community through fashion, the first annual Birmingham Fashion Week launches this week on Friday, April 29th. Local and national designers along side local and national boutiques will gather together to promote and inspire Birmingham's rising stars. Models, make-up and hair stylists will showcase their talents on the runway all the while encouraging locals and visitors to explore the creative talents of Birmingham. Birmingham Fashion Week is also giving back to a local charity, Camp Smile-A-Mile, a year round program for children in Alabama with cancer.
The event kicks off at The Historic Rucker Place at 6:30 pm with a VIP cocktail hour followed by general admission at 7:30 pm. The runway show will debut the first BFW rising star design challenge, nationally recognized designer Lauren Leonard – Leona and Birmingham's very own nationally ranked menswear store Shaia’s. Of course the evening would not be complete without a Royal Wedding inspired runway by none other than Birmingham’s own celebrity designer Heidi Elnora. Guests will also enjoy live music from DJ Coco and an after party at Innisfree. Tickets are $100 for VIP and $35 for general admission.
