Brie Castell, owner of Castell Photography, is one of our favorite photographers in the Asheville area! As of April 7, Castell Photography has a brand new gallery open in downtown, offering Asheville's only photography based art gallery. The 2400 square foot space will function as a venue to meet with wedding, portrait, and commission clients, and will operate a fully equipped darkroom. The gallery will feature the work of owner Brie Castell, and will also host several rotating exhibitions each year of other talented photographic artists. In designing the space, Brie wanted to provide a comfortable, non-traditional gallery setting in which customers and clients are encouraged to not only view artwork, but also to sit, peruse our collection of photography books and magazines, and enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer. As a specialist and practitioner of 19th Century, handcrafted, and one-of-a-kind print processes, Brie’s mission is to provide a venue in which to showcase these mostly forgotten and rarely used methods. In her selection of exhibiting artists, she is especially interested in photographers who utilize these methods as a tool in communicating their vision and message. Gallery services will include: wedding, portrait, boudoir, and event commissions, fine art sales, fine art commissions, framing, printing from film and digital files, digital restoration, and more.
